THE TRIAL OF ABRAHAM HUNT BEGINS TODAY

Testimony begins today in the Hunterdon County, New Jersey trial of Abraham Hunt charged with Crimes Against The American States. Mr. Hunt is a wealthy merchant and Trenton's postmaster appointed in 1764 by none other than Benjamin Franklin the founder of the Pennsylvania Gazette. Although Mr. Franklin is no longer associated with the Gazette, the Gazette takes a keen interest in anyone who appears to have violated the trust reposed in him by our distinguished Patriot and Statesman. The Gazette has sent long time reporter Priscilla Tripstreet to Trenton to investigate Mr. Hunt and to cover the trial. The following report of Miss Tripstreet was just received by express.

Jury selection took place yesterday in the trial of Abraham Hunt.

How we almost didn't become a nation.

On a snowy, windy Christmas night 1776, Washington and his troops shivered as they bravely fought to cross the icy waters of the Delaware River. George Washington still seeking a victory and the act of providence he so desperately needed.

Not far away in the small town of Trenton, Abraham hunt, a crafty businessman was nice and warm hosting quite the Christmas Party with his guests , the occupying German Hessians. Libations floating freely, food and good cheer went far into the evening. A seemingly un-important Christmas event...or was it?

The next morning Washington attacked and reclaimed town of Trenton.

Aid and comfort to the enemy? Traitor! Mr. Smith charged. and rallies the town against him. Was Hunt working for the enemy, Mr. Hunt and his trustworthy servant Charles, say not.

The townspeople say so, after finding an incriminating document suggesting Hunt is a truly a traitor, Mr Hunt is hauled off and charged. The trial becomes the talk of the region.
